WWE SmackDown 5 Predictions: Samoa Joe Will Go On A Path Of Destruction
Becky Lynch Has Finally Had Enough
All throughout the SmackDown Live Women’s Championship all I could think was how I tired I was of seeing Becky Lynch get so close yet never quite reach the mountain top over the last few years, and how I hoped that SummerSlam would be her moment, and we would see her walk out of Brooklyn as the SmackDown Live Women’s Champion.
That was not what we got however. Just as it looked like Becky was going to make Carmella tap out to the ‘Disarmher,’ Charlotte Flair slid back into the ring and hit the ‘Natural Selection’ on Becky and pinned her in the middle of the ring.
Once again Becky got so close, but once again came up just short. But this time, Becky had finally had enough. She snapped, and laid Charlotte out after the match.
Seeing the “more violent” side of Becky Lynch is a welcomed change. Seeing her finally snap was a moment every fan of the “Irish Lass Kicker” has been waiting on.
This doesn’t mean that Becky is a heel. If anything she’s even more of a face than she was before. Fans obviously don’t see this as Becky turning “evil.” They see this for waht it means. Becky has had enough, and she’s willing to do what she needs to do to get her hands on that championship.
Look, being perfectly honest Charlotte shouldn’t have been in that match. That was Becky’s moment, and she had fought so hard to get there, and Charlotte came along and just took it away from her. No one can blame her for doing what she did.
This was storytelling at its finest on WWE’s part. Everything made sense. Was it madening seeing Charlotte win again? Of course it was. But it was even more liberating to see Becky finally lose it, and if anything it runed Charlotte into a heel. Not Becky.
Becky will explain herself tonight, and it no doubt will mirror what everyone already knows. She’s tired of being in Charlotte’s shadow. She’s always been there. From NXT to when she finally got called up on RAW. In fact, she had to get off the same show as Charlotte to win her first ever WWE Championship. And ever since Charlotte came to SDLive, history has repeated itself.
Sunday, whether she won the title or not, Becky knew she had to break out of Charlotte’s shadow, and she did just that. This feud will continue, and it will probably be one of the marquee matches at WWE Evolution. Tonight will just be another chapter in a new series.
