The Miz And Maryse Are Here To Gloat
There’s nothing that will bless your eardrums quite like listening to The Miz gloat about a recent victory, and it’s about to be ten times sweeter after he defeated Daniel Bryan at SummerSlam. He’s immediately serenaded with “Daniel Bryan!” chants, so you know how this is going to go. He can barely get a word out before the audience boos him.
The Miz gives the fans a sob story about how he has a “family to think about it”, fake crying in a way that would make former SmackDown Women’s Champion Carmella proud.
In between tears (and a hug with Maryse for “support”), Miz officially announced his retirement…FROM FACING DANIEL BRYAN EVER AGAIN.
The Miz even says that one hundred Daniel Bryan punches don’t equal one Miz punch, and he says he has the strongest punch in WWE. Where’s Big Show at? He’s coming back, right?
Of course, it only takes eight minutes for Miz to give us some Miz and Mrs. hype, but before he can start his own chant, Bryan interrupts, blurting out “Coward!” repeatedly at Miz.
Bryan points out the fact that The Miz is a huge facade, noting that the A-Lister cheated to defeat him at SummerSlam. He called Miz a WWE Superstar cosplaying as a professional wrestler.
Maryse yells at him to go home, shut up, and retire already. She advises Bryan to change his name to “Daniel Bella”, which leads to Brie Bella, of all people, coming out! Brie attacks Miz, as the “It” couple retreats.
Bryan announces that Paige has scheduled Brie and Daniel to face Miz and Maryse at Hell in a Cell. That should be an exciting match with plenty of shenanigans to keep building this feud, and it adds to this rivalry without giving away a singles match so quickly after SummerSlam.
Grade: B, This was a fun segment, and I popped big-time for Brie Bella coming out! I think booking this mixed tag match is a great way to add to the rivalry. We’ll get more savage promos, and this will be a different type of match for these two.
