8. Melina vs Michelle McCool

The PG Era of WWE was, admittedly, a woeful time for women’s wrestling. With the division showcasing the likes of Kelly Kelly, Rosa Mendes, and Jillian Hall at the top of the roster, in-ring women’s wrestling wasn’t exactly at the apex standard of WWE. However, one of the few bright spots within the division came from the feud between Michelle McCool and Melina.

After Smackdown’s Michelle McCool won a Six Woman Tag Team match on the April 13th, 2009 episode of Raw — ironically against Women’s Champion Melina — it led to the champion being drafted to Smackdown, making her title exclusive to the brand.

With the days of women being eye candy behind WWE as a new family friendly product, Melina and McCool would enter an intense lengthy feud with nothing but the title at stake. This would lead to some excellent, underrated gems at The Bash and Night of Champions.

At the latter PPV, Melina and McCool stole the show so much — especially with a DDT on the barricade — that they got chewed out by backstage execs for having matches that were “too good for girls.”

Melina and Michelle McCool would revisit their feud a year later at Night of Champions 2010, this time in a match to unify the Women’s and Divas Championships.
