The Most (North) Polarizing Figure in WWE

When Braun Strowman said he wanted to confront Roma Reigns, he challenged him to “come alone.” And The Big Dog obliged as WWE Raw kicked off north of the border in Toronto — although, his T-shirt was a not-so-subtle reminder that he’s never really alone these days.

But we get our confrontation with just the two superstars, and honestly, it’s a pretty good back and forth on the mic. Strowman is in that 2014 Roman Reigns zone, where he doesn’t say much, but what he says is aggressively cool. I’m talking before the “sufferin’ succotash,” when he would brood while Dean and Seth did the heavy work, and he waited to say “Beleive That” and everyone swooned.

Reigns, on the other hand, does the bulk of the work tonight, with a blistering retort about what his hands are capable of. He ain’t wrong: Roman is the only guy who has held every single active championship in WWE that he’s eligible for. Braun is a former tag champion. It’s a pretty stark difference in achievements.

Roman unsuccessfully challenging Braun to cash in was super predictable, but we do get the confirmation that it’ll happen at — and inside — Hell in a Cell. It’s always a great match when these two throw down, and putting it in the cage will only accentuate that. I really like the handshake between the two blood rivals, too. Nice touch.

Then we get a visit from Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre, who want to make a name for themselves by knocking off the guys at the top of the mountain. And acting GM Baron Corbin makes it official for the main event, meaning we need to see Braun and Roman get along as a team. Gee, I wonder how that’s going to work out!
