WWE NXT TakeOver: WarGames 2 Early Match Card Predictions

Ricochet (c) vs. Matt Riddle- NXT North American Championship Match

This one is pure fantasy booking. I honestly couldn’t think of a single wrestler that stood out as a logical challenger for Ricochet’s newly won North American Title for TakeOver: WarGames. EC3 lost in Brooklyn. Velveteen Dream has implicitly stated that he doesn’t need championships (counterproductive as that is). Adam Cole (BAY BAY!) is probably on his way to the main roster soon. When you cross out those names, who’s left? Matt Riddle, that’s who.

Prior to signing with WWE, the former UFC fighter made a name for himself as one of the independent circuit’s brightest stars.  He will likely start out as a babyface, but I could definitely see Riddle developing into a very good heel. Since NXT is filled with plenty of quality protagonists, so he would have no problem garnering boos — or at least a split reaction.

If this match takes place, it has the potential to steal the show. Despite his brief time in the business, Riddle has earned a reputation as one of the industry’s best workers and Ricochet’s wrestling skills and off the page athleticism exceeds any adjective I can come up with.

I don’t know if this match will happen, but if it does, TakeOver: WarGames would be the perfect place.
