WWE NXT TakeOver: WarGames 2 Early Match Card Predictions

Tommaso Ciampa, Lars Sullivan, and Kassius Ohno vs. Johnny Gargano, EC3, and Aleister Black- WarGames Match

These were the only names left on the NXT roster that seemed worthy of the WarGames stipulation. With several intertwining current and prospective storylines at play, this seems like a match worthy of one of the most violent matches in wrestling history.

You’re probably wondering why I have Kassius Ohno on the heel side. Well, that’s because I couldn’t find any other credible heels to put on the Ciampa side of things and Ohno seems like a good candidate to turn. He’s been pretty aimless since returning to NXT in 2016, so a shift in character may be in order. Tommaso Ciampa asking Ohno if standing up for Johnny Gargano “was worth it?” during their match a couple of months ago could be the impetus for his turn. Heck, he could be the one revealed as Aleister Black’s mystery attacker.

EC3 hinted at a possible feud with Sullivan during his post-match interview in Brooklyn, implicating the big man as the perpetrator in Black’s attack. A singles match between the two would be, uh, rough to say the least, so a WarGames match would mask some of their in-ring limitations. Of course, the antipathy between Gargano and Ciampa is well documented.

WWE probably won’t use the original WarGames rules (where one team has to surrender or get knocked out for the match to end), but this would be a very entertaining main event, though the prospect of this happening depends on Black’s health and the direction the NXT writers want to take certain storylines. But, this match has as good a chance of happening inside the two cage structure as any other combination.
