WWE SmackDown Results, Highlights, And Grades For August 28, 2018
The Club vs. The Bar vs. The Colons
The winner of this Triple Threat match will take on the winner of next week’s Triple Threat match to determine The New Day’s next opponent for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships.
Kofi praised The Colons’ theme song (thank you for recognizing greatness, Kofi!), and it’s a shame we didn’t get to hear more of it due to the commercial break.
Primo tagged himself in after Cesaro was dominating Karl Anderson, but it backfired until he tagged in Epico.
Anderson has been in there for a while, and he’s in trouble as The Bar start to go to work. Sheamus is legal, and he’s laying it in on Anderson. But Anderson creates some much-needed separation with a cutter, and both Luke Gallows and Cesaro tag in.
Cesaro had Gallows countered in the corner before Primo tagged in. Primo almost lost the match to the Magic Killer after a scramble, but Epico saved him. Sheamus hit a Brogue Kick on the outside while Cesaro got the cover for the win.
And The Bar are one step closer to facing their familiar foes, The New Day, for their first reign as SmackDown Tag Team Champions.
Grade: ABOVE-AVERAGE, This match was solid, and I loved the chaotic ending. No surprises with Sheamus and Cesaro winning, which was good.
Happy Lana And Rusev Day!
Paige meets with Rusev Day backstage to state that they will face The Usos and Sanity in a tag team Triple Threat match next week, and the winner will face The Bar to determine The New Day’s next challenger.
Rusev goes to thank Lana for this, but it was Aiden English’s idea! All is well in the Rusev Day camp!
