Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Carmella For The SmackDown Women’s Championship
As Carmella noted in her promo earlier tonight, she’s beaten Charlotte Flair twice, which means the pressure is technically on the current SmackDown Women’s Champion against this rematch with the Princess of Staten Island. But as we all know, Carmella’s first victory over Charlotte came via cash-in, and the second was a fluke at Backlash. So the threat for Charlotte is focusing too much on Becky Lynch’s actions at SummerSlam and getting distracted tonight against Mella…
Before the women’s title match starts, we see AJ Styles backstage, frantically looking for Samoa Joe, who was already long gone by then. This is just getting crazier…
Charlotte easily takes control early with her superior strength and grappling skills, but Carmella shows her savvy with some quick moves to comeback. As expected, Carmella, as the heel, gets back in control with a headlock.

Throughout the beginning of the match, there are “Becky!” and “We Want Becky!” chants, mixed in with some Wooos! Not only is it great to see the undying support for Becky, who isn’t in this match, but it was also good to see that the crowd hasn’t turned on Charlotte in retaliation. She was supported in Toronto.
Charlotte makes a huge mistake by missing a big move on the outside, as she crashes on the barricade. Carmella takes advantage, quickly rolling the champion back in the ring before the break.
Mella did her homework for sure, as she countered a lot of Flair’s moves, including a few power moves and a final signature Flair chop. She went for a big crossbody, but Charlotte rolled through and nearly stole one. Moments later, Charlotte had to kick out of a Flatliner for two.
Frustrated after this, Carmella nearly lost focus before hitting a Frankensteiner on Charlotte for a nearfall.
Still frustrated after this, Carmella slaps Charlotte around and screams in Flair’s face, yelling for her to simply give up the title.
Carmella hit a pair of superkicks and kept going for cover after cover, but she STILL couldn’t find a way to pin Charlotte!
After selling the hell out of a spear, Carmella was trapped in the Figure Eight and valiantly lasted a LONG time (longer than Asuka at WrestleMania 34!) before finally tapping out. Charlotte retains.
But at what cost? Because Becky Lynch, whom the crowd continues to cheer with all of their heart, came out to attack Charlotte from behind! She begged for a mic, called Charlotte a b*tch, and had the crowd going BONKERS.
Charlotte vs. Becky is going down at Hell in a Cell. And we are blessed. What an angle. What a way to end the show. And I wonder how a pissed of Charlotte, whom the crowd is 50/50 on but 100000% behind Becky, will react next week.
Grade: AMAZING, Good match between Mella and Charlotte and a truly wonderful ending to the show.
