Neville & Stephen Amell vs. King Barrett & Stardust – Summer Slam 2015: 4.23.15

When celebrities are involved in WWE angles, it usually comes with cheesy lines and even worse matches. The pairing of Arrow star, Stephen Amell with Neville is an exception to that rule. Amell fit in perfectly with the professionals that were Wade Barrett and Cody Rhodes as Stardust. In many ways, it’s still going on today as Amell is one of the many names scheduled to take part in the highly anticipated All In showcase in a few days.

When looking at all of the matches that Neville had during his WWE run, this is perhaps one of the biggest when it comes to placement and star power. Placing Neville with Amell for a SummerSlam match showed that the WWE trusted that Neville would be able to help get Amell over with the crowd as a “believable” competitor in the ring.

It was clear that he and Neville were going to get the win; the performance by all four men was exceptional; much better than what usually happens when a celebrity is brought into the WWE for mainstream media coverage.

In many ways, this could be seen as the biggest career moment for Neville when he was a part of the main roster. The role of working with celebrities is usually reserved for some of the bigger name players on the WWE roster, and it was clear that Neville wasn’t exactly within that group at this time.

However, he excelled when given the opportunity, which is important for any man or woman on the WWE, he was given a prime placement on one of the biggest WWE and delivered a well laid out match. Neville had the ability to be a much bigger star than the WWE placed him, and it’s a point that another promotion may leverage in the future.
