Two weeks ago, the battle between Team Filthy and The Stud Stable reached new levels when The Dirty Blondes took out Tom Lawlor’s training partner Seth Petruzelli while Lawlor tangled with Parrow in a cage fight. Lawlor swore revenge for the heinous act and he made good on his promise in this week’s main event.

These two put on a fun match, though it was overshadowed by the Cade/Yuta match earlier in the night. It may have been a mistake to put two “final match in the feud” matches on in the same week.

Lawlor picked up the win after an eye poke and a roll-up which could leave the door open to more conflict between the two groups down the road. Colonel Parker seems to be close to his wit’s end with Parrow and if the big man is ousted from the quartet we’d find ourselves in a 3-on-3 situation. I don’t see this match marking the end of the saga between Hager and Lawlor since it didn’t end cleanly, but we could see the Blondes and Gotch & Yehi pulled into the fray in the coming weeks.

On September 6, Lawlor is set to face Joey Janela coming off of a loss to MJF in an MLW World Middleweight Title match while Simon Gotch and The Dirty Blondes are advertised but not yet in any officially announced matches. “Filthy” also has a shot at the MLW World Heavyweight Title stored away after his victory at Battle Riot so we could see him take on either Low Ki or Fenix at October’s Fury Road in New York.

With the final lead-in episode to War Games wrapped up, the card is nearly all set for MLW’s huge show in Fort Lauderdale. It will be almost 15 years to the day since MLW last promoted a War Games match, and this coming one has just as many combustible elements as the last. Can Shane Strickland free himself from the grip of Sami Callihan, or will Callihan and his Ravagers put the final nail in the coffin for “Swerve” and company?

If you’re not in Fort Lauderdale on September 6, you can catch War Games and the fallout on MLW Fusion on beIN Sports and MLW’s official YouTube channel.
