Joey Janela and Penelope Ford

Wrestling has so many great power couples, such as Andrade “Cien” Almas and Zelina Vega or Rusev and Lana, but Penelope Ford and Joey Janela just might be my new favorite after their work at All In.

Hangman Page came away with the victory, but Janela and Ford put it all on the line to try and score a “W” in a Chicago Street Fight against one of NJPW’s big rising stars this year. Janela nearly pulled it off, too, but, alas, the improved Page was just too much to overcome.

As he always does, Janela did his best to kill himself for the audience’s bloodthirsty pleasure. He clearly outlined this desire to Sports Illustrated, and you can always leave it up to Janela to make good on his word.

But what was even more impressive was Ford’s performance, because she only needed to be involved for minutes to add a great deal to this match. Janela vs. Page ended up being one of the best matches of the night specifically due to Ford’s efforts.

Her flips to avoid Page left both Janela’s opponent and the crowd dumbfounded. She then hit Page with the best stunner of 2018 (apologies to Kevin Owens and the Lucha House Party), which Page sold to perfection. Her crossbody afterwards was just as worthy of a pop, and that helped set up Page on a table for Janela to pick him off.

Ford wasn’t done there, as she brought out a back of THOSE boots. This phased Page so much that she nearly gifted the “Bad Boy” a marquee victory at All In, as Page was hit with a Janela superkick after he attacked Ford.

This was a great performance from both of these two, and both Ford and Janela have been two of wrestling’s most consistently outstanding performers in 2018. More big things should be ahead for both of these well-traveled entertainers.
