Randy Orton vs. Jeff Hardy

Be careful what you wish for. For at least a year, the WWE Universe clamored for Randy Orton to turn heel, and what they’ve received is the most demented version of Orton, which is something I never thought would be possible.

Orton has gone to just about every extreme to erase Jeff Hardy’s identity. He’s targeted this familiar foe, because he resents everything Hardy is as a person. The Viper despises how Hardy wears facepaint, dives, panders to the crowd, and disrespects what he feels wrestling should be.

All of this is because Orton hates the WWE Universe with every fiber of his being. He can’t stand the fact that he has to acknowledge them, and he hates the fact that their thirst for crazy moves has “killed legends”. Hence why he called the audience the “real Legend Killers”.

Orton is out to end Hardy’s career, which is why it’s scary to see that this match will occur inside Hell in a Cell. We know Hardy will do whatever it takes to entertain the audience, which is exactly why this feud started in the first place. And Hardy showed this a couple of weeks ago by landing a massive Swanton on Orton.

Could Hardy’s itch for the extreme prove to be his undoing against a cold, calculating Orton who has saved using the RKO until the moment he ends Hardy? Will he pull out an RKO counter during one of Hardy’s dives and then lash at the crowd for cheering the ending? Will Orton light into the crowd for cheering the attempted ending of Hardy’s career, since that’s the exact reason why Orton hates the WWE Universe so much?

There are so many layers to this rivalry, and while I am nervous to see Jeff Hardy in this type of match, I am absolutely excited for it.
