The Riott Squad (Liv Morgan & Sarah Logan, w/ Ruby Riott) vs. The Bella Twins (Nikki & Brie)

Result: The Bella Twins defeated The Riott Squad via pinfall

Rating: 1.75 out of 5 stars

Speaking of greatest hits, here come the Bella Twins!

The entire tag match is a pretty paint by numbers affair. Nikki and Brie haven’t teamed up on WWE Raw in three years, and even though some fans may remember what they were all about, there’s still plenty of people in the seats who are blissfully ignorant of their past.

And after this match, there’s probably some people who wish they were still ignorant. Since there was no reinventing the wheel in this one, you’d think it would be a slam dunk for everyone involved to make sure everyone looks good. The Riott Squad have been quietly one of the best things on Raw lately, especially since Ruby returned from injury.

But Nikki and Brie looked more like the Nikki and Brie who last teamed together in 2015, and less like the singles competitors they evolved into before the end of 2016. When Brie went into Brie Mode, it was the scariest stuff I’ve seen in a ring since watching Sabu. Good lord, the suicide dives almost ended her career — twice.

Nikki was a step up from Brie, which is also how their pre-hiatus careers had shaken out. But she still seemed a little off and too into pandering to the crowd. It’s a hundred percent understandable, since it’s been a while since they’ve been in the ring. But I think the goal in this one was too lofty, and it fell short — which is, again, understandable.

Why why why why why

Finn Bálor challenges Baron Corbin to another rematch because they haven’t broken the Kofi Kingston/Dolph Ziggler record of a best of 24,601 series yet. So what’s one more match, huh? And a main event match has to mean this is finally it, right? Right? RIGHT?
