WWE Hell in a Cell: Randy Orton vs Jeff Hardy Will Steal The Show
By Tom Thomas
At WWE Hell in a Cell, Jeff Hardy and Randy Orton will step into the Devil’s Playground for the first time. The two men might very well craft something epic and disturbing inside the structure that night. The question is, are you ready to witness it?
WWE Hell in a Cell is less than two weeks away and the build up to the PPV is heating up on both Raw and SmackDown Live. The WWE Universe will be in line for an entertaining PPV regardless of the matches that are yet to be added to the card. Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman will write a new chapter in their rivalry inside the structure.
The same goes for AJ Styles and Samoa Joe with the WWE title on the line. Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch too will write a new chapter in Women’s revolution as the Queen heads into the demented structure for the second time in her career.
We might be in line for more cell matches this year as Randy Orton and Jeff Hardy will try to settle their scores once and for all inside the signature structure as well. Despite there being no titles on the line and it being the fourth Hell in a Cell match of the night, this might be the match that elevates the whole PPV. Every other match on the card made me question the necessity for the stipulation.
Charlotte and Becky have issues. But has it exploded to such an extent that the demented steel structure is the only way to settle their differences? Or is it merely a match to maintain the aura around the Women’s revolution? Shouldn’t creative have done better to cultivate something a bit more brutal, prior to setting up this match? Becky was explosive in her heel turn and her attacks and verbal assaults on Charlotte have been on point. With two weeks left for the PPV, they could have built up more tension before announcing this match.

As for Styles vs. Samoa Joe, it seemed odd that out of the blue Joe would begin to bring out Styles’s family into the picture to enrage the champion. Where was he all this while then? Why bring out the verbal family jabs now. Strowman was the only man who made sense in the scenario as he wanted to ensure there was zero interference.
But when one comes to Orton vs. Hardy at Hell in a Cell, there is a feud that grew organically. It is not as personal for Orton as it is for Hardy. The Viper is out to cleanse the WWE Universe off its idols and celebrities. Hardy was merely caught in the way and ended up being a target for the Apex Predator.
But as things progressed along, they turned up the heat on each other too. Orton’s attacks on Hardy were some of the most brutal and disturbing segment in WWE TV in recent times. It had me clenching myself and gulping at times. It was a psychologically disturbing masterpiece as Orton picked apart Hardy week after week. It didn’t seem personal, yet it was. The feud didn’t seem like a big deal, without a title or repercussions on the line, yet it is. Creative then hit the ball out of the park with a couple of stellar video packages this week.
It captures the essence of both men’s characters perfectly. Orton is the predator who is out to inflict pain and damage, regardless of who he is facing. Jeff Hardy is out there to defend himself, his honor and his identity. A man fights for his survival while the other seeks retribution against the fans that ignored him. The story writes itself.
This will be Hardy’s first time inside the demented structure and if you know the Charismatic Enigma you can be assured that he will do something crazy and memorable in there. The question is, will the WWE allow him to do all that he would want to do? Amidst concerns for his own safety and the longevity of his health and career at this point in time, Jeff Hardy will have the fans on the edge of their seats throughout the match.
Orton on the other hand is more experienced within the confines of the cell. He will utilize the environment to its extremes to inflict damage and create disturbing images inside the Devil’s playground. He will look to end his opponent’s career come September 16.
Despite not having a title on the line, this match will very well be the match of the night. The only lingering question is, will the WWE Universe be ready to see this? Two warriors will wage war at WWE Hell in a Cell and only one will leave with their senses intact, while the fans watch in awe and disbelief.
