3. Samoa Joe And AJ Styles Segment
The WWE Championship has been held by AJ Styles for nearly a full year and he has turned back challenge after challenge. But The Phenomenal One hasn’t had a bigger challenge to date than The Samoan Submission Machine, Samoa Joe.
Joe has taken things to a personal level over the past month or so by bringing Styles’ family into the mix. Styles has been understandably incensed and it got to the point where he snapped and laid out Joe with a chair during their match at SummerSlam. The two will have a rematch at Hell In A Cell for the WWE Championship, but last night saw Joe up to his usual tricks.
He came out and addressed Styles’ family again, saying how he will keep his promise to Styles’ wife Wendy that AJ will come home after Joe is done with him. Assuming Styles wasn’t in the building, Joe also told Styles’ daughter that he would take daddy’s WWE Championship and that she should enjoy him being home to tuck her in at night. The Phenomenal One appeared on the screen, but he caught Joe off guard when he came out to the arena.
Styles began attacking Joe relentlessly and wouldn’t stop. He brought a chair into the mix and began to go to work on The Samoan Submission Machine, who began retreating. A few referees came out and tried to get Styles to stop before GM Paige got him to lay off. This feud is the best thing going in the WWE today and this was another outstanding segment to build anticipation for this match at Hell In A Cell.
The fact this match isn’t already inside Hell in a Cell is a bit ridiculous, but Hell in a Cell structure or not, these two are bound to make a huge impact in less than two weeks.
