MLW Fusion Results, Highlights, and Grades: September 7, 2018
War Games is taking over MLW Fusion next week with Shane Strickland and Sami Callihan seeking to destroy one another inside of the double-ring cage. There’s more than that on the way, though, as MLW’s fighters are set to battle in Fort Lauderdale!
Of course, the namesake match of the event is the one the eyes of the wrestling world are on. Shane Strickland will lead his team of Kotto Brazil, Barrington Hughes, John Hennigan and Tommy Dreamer against Sami Callihan, The Death Machines, Jimmy Havoc and Abyss. If MLW’s history is any indication, this War Games will be bloody, messy, and outrageous as these ten men look to tear one another limb from limb.
Low Ki looks to gain some semblance of revenge on behalf of Salina de La Renta’s Promociones Dorado when he defends the MLW World Heavyweight Title against one half of the MLW World Tag Team Champions, Fenix. Fenix and Pentagon have jumped ship to align themselves with Konnan and War Games will see the first official shots fired in this conflict.
Salina de La Renta will also bring LA Park to MLW as he clashes with Pentagon in a Mexican Death match. If you haven’t already seen the fight Park had with Sabu some years back in MLW, check it out on their YouTube channel to see just how vicious and brutal the former Chairman of WCW can be. I’m expecting multiple gasps (from myself) as each man rips and tears at the mask of their opponent.
In other matches taped for War Games, though likely not airing next week, Taya Valkyrie makes her debut as she teams with Joey Ryan to take on the MLW World Middleweight Champion MJF and his main squeeze Aria Blake. PCO will have an all-out slugfest as he tangles with California’s Brody King while “Filthy” Tom Lawlor steps into the ring with Joey Janela. All three members of The Hart Foundation will compete as Teddy Hart faces Rich Swann, Davey Boy Smith Jr takes on ACH, and Brian Pillman Jr makes his in-ring debut against Vandal Ortagun. Finally, former partners Jason Cade and Jimmy Yuta are in action as they battle Myron Reed and El Hijo de LA Park respectively.
Can MLW’s War Games top NXT’s revival of the storied match from last year’s Takeover: Houston? Only time will tell as The Match Beyond comes to beIN Sports and YouTube next weekend!
