Impact Wrestling: Results, Analysis, and Grades for September 13th, 2018
After support from Scarlett Bordeaux and Rich Swann, Fallah Bah is really feeling himself. However, not too long after Swann steps away, Matt Sydal approaches Swann once again trying to allow Swann to fly under Sydal’s wing. Swann says he’d much rather meet Sydal in the ring in Mexico.
Kongo Kong vs. Brian Cage
This is the second meeting for Kongo Kong and X Division Champion Brian Cage, and still it amazes me that there’s someone on the roster that actually makes Cage look small. Don Callis even notes that it’s not often that someone knocks Cage off his feet the way Kong does.
As always, Cage’s greatest asset is that despite his burliness, he’s a flyer, and he gets Kong with a couple leaps off the ropes, including a stellar moonsault (pun absolutely intended). Not to be outdone, Kong remains slam-heavy.
There have been a couple nasty neck landing in this match; Kong caught Cage oddly with a knee, and Cage clotheslined Kong onto his neck. Cage wins, with of all moves, an F5.
After the match, Cage calls out OVE readily. He’s ready to mow over – say it with me – ev-ry-one.
Grade: C
The physicality of this match carried it, Cage’s leaps and Kong’s hard slams are always intense. The match was slow over all though, and with all the hype that went into this match-up the first time, it felt a little bit like a let-down.
Speaking of ev-ry-one, that’s who appears backstage to lend their support to Fallah Bah. The main event is next, and it may be unlikely, but I have high hopes for our hero.
