Impact Wrestling: Everyone In Tag Match Has Top Star Potential
Pentagon Jr.
I can’t be the only one who thinks that Impact Wrestling could have gotten more mileage out of Pentagon Jr. as their world champion. He made quite the splash when he defeated Austin Aries at “Redemption”, and it was a result that almost nobody saw coming. It was a bold move for Impact to put their world title on Pentagon, but given the reactions he received, it was 100% the right call.
However, I’m not so sure it was the right call for Pentagon Jr. to drop the title on the set of tapings after Redemption. The match at “Under Pressure” itself was great, but the finish was quite strange, as Aries won by cheating after a restart.
We haven’t seen Pentagon Jr. in the title picture since, even though he had another “Match of the Night” performance against Sami Callihan in a hellacious match at Slammiversary. The man’s charisma shines through no matter what, and Impact Wrestling fans are clearly behind Pentagon as a star in this company.
I’d love to see Impact make the bold call to put Pentagon at the top of the ladder for a longer period of time. I have nothing against Aries as a champion, but I do wonder if this reign came a little too soon, especially since the Aries/Pentagon feud could have been one for the ages. People just gravitate towards Pentagon, who truly brings something different to the table as a character and in-ring performer.
