AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe Set For WWE Super Show-Down

AJ Styles and Samoa Joe fought over the WWE Championship again at Hell in a Cell 2018, and while there was a winner this time, the dubious circumstances surrounding the result have enabled Joe to earn a rematch at WWE Super Show-Down.

The rivalry between AJ Styles and Samoa Joe has been one of the best programs of 2018 in any promotion, as the two made waves at SummerSlam when the negative emotions reached a breaking point.

During the match, Joe stood up on the announce table and told Styles’s wife and daughter that Joe would be their “daddy” after all of the damage he inflicted upon Styles. The WWE Champion snapped, causing a disqualification by bashing Joe repeatedly with a steel chair.

At Hell in a Cell, Styles defeated Joe, absorbing all of the punishment and finishing the match by deftly turning Joe’s Coquina Clutch into a pinning predicament. Joe reasoned that Styles tapped out, and he confronted SmackDown Live GM Paige and the match official backstage.

Paige is the best GM in WWE, and she regularly has to deal with the likes of Joe or The Miz causing trouble backstage. Hell, she once fired James Ellsworth for talking too much trash. She doesn’t deal with intimidation tactics or BS, so she only had so much tolerance for Joe here.

However, Paige did agree to allow Joe to have his rematch at WWE Super Show-Down. This event will take place on Oct. 6 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia. This will be a jam-packed show, as Australia will get to see some of the biggest names in wrestling competing. The Undertaker and Triple H will supposedly finish their chapter here, and the promos on Raw, including one involving Shawn Michaels, have been fantastic.

But Samoa Joe vs. AJ Styles in a rematch for the WWE Championship will be the headlining act for many. These are two elite in-ring competitors, and they’ve put together two excellently-paced matches with meaningful story-telling that has only added to the segments in between the matches.

Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship, which Becky just won, and a No. 1 Contender’s match between Daniel Bryan and The Miz will also be on this exciting show.

The event will stream live on the WWE Network at 4 a.m. ET, so it can be considered a special Pay Per View, somewhat like the Greatest Royal Rumble was. Let’s just hope that this show, which is at least in Australia and not Saudi Arabia, is more entertaining.
