AJ Styles vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas

Pfft… a non-title match for Almas. What is this? Almas and Zelina Vega are sporting black and white, much like we’d hoped the finale of that championship match would have been, am I right?

Andrade wastes no time, attacking Styles before the bell rings, which gets real heat from the audience. AJ Styles has the belt in his hand, for crying out loud. Styles seems very messed up from the blows, and he can barely stand straight. After the official bell, Andrade is right back to his attack, but AJ counters just as quickly with blows of his own.

Andrade lands a massive kick, and AJ is out of sorts again. Andrade has the first pin attempt. Andrade keeps up the assault on Styles, including a submission hold along the ropes thats broken by the ref. I can’t believe I can even see that when the screen is split for commercials, again.

Andrade locks Styles in an armbar into the corner, and Styles finally counters with a whirly DDT. Zelina lands a heavy smack on Styles, but it doesn’t seem to phase Style in the slightest, and he offers a backbreaker to Andrade immediately after.

Styles seems to finally be fired up, but Andrade lands a huge stomp to Styles’ torso on the apron. The move almost warrants a count out, but Andrade launches Styles out of ring again.

We return from commercial with Andrade getting thrown out of the ring. Styles delivers a knee to Andrade’s head. Andrade fumbles out of a Styles Clash, and Andrade’s knee seems to be injured. It doesn’t stop him from using both knees on Styles in the corner. Styles turns a jackknife cover into the Styles Clash for the win.

Samoa Joe comes roaring out of nowhere to attack Styles, but was apparently ready and offers offense until Joe leaves through the crowd.

Grade: A-

An exceptionally solid match from Almas and Styles alike. Zelina was fierce as ever, and Joe didn’t interfere until after the match. The only thing wrong with this is that it wasn’t for the WWE Championship.
