The argument for why Rusev should win the 2019 Royal Rumble is a simple one, and it can be easily summed up with one pointed question – how in the world does this man not have a title on him right now?

I could give you a minute to think of one, good reason why Rusev shouldn’t be in WWE Championship contention right now, but we wouldn’t even need the full minute. Fans have been rallied behind the Bulgarian standout for months, and the popularity of his catchphrase “Happy Rusev Day” has completely solidified Rusev as one of the premier stars of SmackDown Live.

It doesn’t go without saying that Rusev could use a little good luck – he’s recently lost bouts for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships, the United Stated Championship, and he was betrayed by his Rusev Day tag team partner Aiden English, a break-up that really doesn’t do much to aid either performer.

If we went only by the rally of fan-support, Rusev is well due for a major championship run in WWE, and honestly, just imagining the crowd reaction to Rusev winning the Royal Rumble is enough to give me goosebumps. Rusev has taken every curve WWE has thrown at him in stride, and a win at the Rumble would be a just reward for all the hard-work and time Rusev has put into waiting for his big break.
