WWE Raw: Baron Corbin, AoP Take On The Shield in Main Event

What happened on WWE Raw this week? Daily DDT has you covered.

A Raw Tag Team Championship match, a couple of grudge matches, and The Shield competing as a trio for the first time in nearly a year were the big highlights on this week’s episode of WWE Raw.

We’re also just a bit more than a week away from Super Show-Down in Melbourne. There’s a pretty stacked card coming to us from Down Under, and this week’s Raw did a good job building towards that show.

Here’s the results from WWE Raw for September 24, 2018:

  • Acting General Manager Baron Corbin tried to sing “Happy Birthday” to Commissioner Stephanie McMahon, but she — and Triple H — were having none of it. Stephanie told Corbin his performance had been lacking, and told him to find two partners to face The Shield in a six man tag match later in the show.
  • The Shield cut a promo about being better than the competition, and poor Dean Ambrose looked upset about not having a championship like Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins. Corbin brought out Braun Strowman, Dolph Ziggler, and Drew McIntyre, who practically begged Ambrose to turn on Reigns and Rollins. A brawl almost broke out between the sides, but Corbin stopped it.
  • Finn Bálor defeated Jinder Mahal after their Mixed Match Classic partners, Bayley and Alicia Fox, got involved at ringside. After the match, Jinder beat up Sunil Singh before doing the SHANTI thing with Foxy.
  • Brie Bella vs. Ruby Riott was changed to a six-woman tag match, pitting The Bellas and Natalya against the Riott Squad. Liv Morgan caught a nasty kick to the face and was clearly dazed before leaving the match for medical attention. In the end, Ruby hit the Riott Kick after a blind tag to pin Natalya.
  • Triple H and Stephanie McMahon — with the entire roster on stage — presented Carter and Elizabeth, two of Connor’s Cure Superstars of Tomorrow, with their own championship belts.
  • Konnor defeated Chad Gable after literally two moves of offense.
  • Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre successfully defended the Raw Tag Team Championships against The Revival in a phenomenal match. (Side note: Get the titles on Dash and Dawson as soon as possible.)

Elias played Paul Schaffer to Kevin Owens’s David Letterman on “The Kevin Owens Show,” with special guest Lio Rush. Rush never got in the ring, presumably because Elias brought out a booster seat for him.

Hometown hero Bobby Lashley took on Elias, and it was a lot better than it had any right to be. The finish was trash, with Lashley winning by DQ when Owens accidentally ran into him outside the ring while chasing Rush.

Nia Jax defeated Alicia Fox, while Ember Moon took out Mickie James at ringside with a wicked cannonball.

Baron Corbin revealed his partners against The Shield were none other than AoP. The match was as physical as you’d expect, especially with Strowman, Ziggler, and McIntyre watching from ringside. In the end, The Shield was as united as ever, and a Reigns spear to Corbin ended it. The Ambrose turn was again teased, but the Lunatic Fringe celebrated with his brothers as the show went off the air.
