WWE Raw: It’s Time For WWE To Let The Revival Shine

The Revival were a force to be reckoned with on NXT, where they won the NXT Tag Team Championship twice during their stay on the roster. Since they’ve debuted on the Raw roster, however, their quest for tag-team success has been futile, and their fruitless attempts to become Raw Tag Team Champions has become tiresome for everyone. Here’s a word of advice for WWE on whether or not to finally pull the trigger and let The Revival become Raw Tag Team Champions – “say yeah”.

The debut of The Revival on the WWE main roster was a long-awaited one, and many hoped that their impact on the Raw Tag Team Division would be felt swiftly and forcefully upon their arrival. Yet, here we are, a year-and-a-half into their tenure on Raw, and the former NXT Tag Team Champions have little if anything to show for it.

In fact, as of late, their quest for the Tag Team Championships has become laughably fruitless; The Revival has been consistently booked for Raw Tag Team Championship matches over the passed couple of months, and they have lost every single time. It begs the question – why does WWE continually book this once-revered tag team to get only so close to championship gold?

It’s really only a blip on the radar of a larger problem WWE has with transitioning much of it’s NXT call-ups, particularly the tag teams. I’m sure I don’t need to remind everyone of the fates of former tag favorites American Alpha, Enzo and Cass, and especially The Ascension.

Tonight on Raw, however, WWE has afforded The Revival yet another opportunity to win the big one, this time against the newly-assembled team of Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre. It would make for the most challenging one-on-one championship opportunity for The Revival to date, as both Ziggler and McIntyre have proven that their momentum did in fact double when they joined forces as a stable on Raw.

That’s all the more reason WWE should finally bite the bullet and allow The Revival to become Raw Tag Team Champions.

It’s not pushing Wilder and Dawson for the sake of pushing them; it’s allowing The Revival to win the Raw Tag Team Championship to overwrite the terrible way they’ve been booked since their main-roster debut, especially the last two months with the odd feud-triangle between The Revival, B-Team, and Dolph and Drew. If WWE continues booking The Revival into a corner, they will be booking themselves another addition into the bag of stagnant tag teams that they’ve been collection.

Wilder and Dawson have would have a ton of potential as Raw Tag Team Champions as well. Their signature “no flips, just fists” style of wrestling makes them seem more intimidating in the ring; they’re not here to showoff. They’re here to beat you up.

Their promo style is very similar; it’s cut-and-dry, but in a good way. They don’t rely on anything to get over with the crowd (at least in NXT they didn’t). They are who they are, and they win when they win, and that’s all we need to care about. It’s quiet frankly a very smart promo style to have as a heel team.

Additionally, you have to know that Ziggler and McIntyre are meant to have more illustrious careers as singles competitors, and their collusion is just a time-waster until the two eventually turn on each other, so why not give the Raw Tag Team Championships to a real team, one that’s trained extensively to work functionally and cohesively.

Tonight should be the last night in a while The Revival challenges for the Raw Tag Team Championship. WWE Creative has given Wilder and Dawson so many misteps in their journey to the top that they’ve effectively shot themselves in the foot, and the best way to make up for it is for Wilder and Dawson to win the Raw Tag Team Championships against two of the strongest performers on the current Raw Roster.
