Now, while it’s been mentioned that Rey Mysterio should not be added to the 205 Live roster in any form or fashion, that doesn’t mean there aren’t some great possibilities for matches against some very talented cruiserweights. Names such as TJ Perkins, Cedric Alexander, and Lince Dorado are just a few of the athletes performing on this show that would love to get in the ring with one of the greatest of all time.
There’s one individual that has continued to develop as a wrestler and an overall performer that would benefit the most from a match with Mysterio; and that’s Buddy Murphy.
Since turning heel and taking on the persona of the “Juggernaut of 205 Live” Murphy has become one of the most improved wrestlers on the WWE roster. His feuds with Mustafa Ali and Cedric Alexander delivered some of the best wrestling on WWE programing, on weekly and PPV shows alike. He’s continuing to excel in his current role and has shown that he can also work a promo well enough to keep a crowd engaged. Murphy shouldn’t be removed from the 205 Live show, but placing him against Mysterio is a special one-off match would do well for him while giving Mysterio a showcase match during a Raw event.
In the ring, Murphy could play the power cruiserweight that has faced off against Mysterio in the past. Think of the way that he and Chris Jericho would work together in the past, or even Eddie Guerrero as well. Cruiserweights that can keep the pace but also mix in power moves are exciting to watch, and Murphy is one of those men. He and Mysterio would be a good mix to not only highlight that Mysterio is returning to the WWE brand, but that Murphy is a name to watch within 205 Live and beyond.
