The September 25th edition of WWE SmackDown was a night filled with storyline developments and building towards the upcoming Super Show-Down event.
Last night’s WWE SmackDown was a crucial show for the makeup of several of the blue brand’s top angles and storylines with Super Show-Down just over a week away from down under.
Tuesday nights is carrying plenty of momentum into the event and what is shaping up to be a big month of October. With that being said, let’s take a look at a few grades from the September 25th edition of WWE SmackDown.
5. Truth TV
The most must-see WWE talk show in history, at least self-proclaimed, is Miz TV. The A-Lister has been using this show as a platform to boost his ego for years now, but last night saw a different twist to Miz TV in the form of a rebranding of sorts.
R-Truth has had a career resurgence as of late and has since aligned himself with Carmella, and last night saw Truth and Carmella open up the show with their twist on Miz TV in the form of the ever-entertaining Truth TV. He called out his first guest in Daniel Bryan, who will face The Miz at Super Show-Down with the winner going on to receive a WWE Championship opportunity.
Humor and a surprisingly insightful question to Bryan followed, along with an impromptu seven-second dance break between Truth and Carmella. Truth TV was off and running until The Miz decided he had seen enough. He was mad Truth had stolen his show and he would, of course, turn his attention towards Bryan and their upcoming match at Super Show-Down.
Miz said Bryan doesn’t do what it takes to win because he’s too morally conscience, but Miz said he’ll do whatever it takes to win and that’s why Bryan will never beat him. After another impromptu seven-second dance break, a match between The Miz and Truth would be made with The A-Lister looking to take back his show that got transformed into the newest hit show.
This was a solid opening segment that saw some of what makes R-Truth such a comedic breath of fresh air as well as more tense moments between Bryan and Miz.
Final Grade: B+
