3. Sheamus vs. Big E
The New Day’s triumph over The Bludgeon Brothers on the SmackDown after SummerSlam was a memorable night for the blue brand’s tag team division. At Super Show-Down in just over a week, another potentially memorable night will take place for the division when The New Day defends its tag team titles against a team that ended its record-breaking title reign over two years ago.
Kofi Kingston, Big E, and Xavier Woods are five-time tag team champions, but their reign atop the blue brand’s tag team division will be threatened when they defend their SmackDown Tag Team Championship against The Bar at Super Show-Down. But last night was about singles action when two of the hardest hitters in the WWE squared off.
Sheamus took on Big E and both men put on a solid match that probably didn’t get enough time to shine. Yet, even at that, they still did plenty to impress. It looked like Big E had the match won at one point, but a turnaround by Sheamus turned the tide of the match and The Celtic Warrior got the win over Big E. The Bar has now defeated two members of The New Day in consecutive weeks.
At Super Show-Down, however, singles action won’t matter to either team when they square off for the tag team titles. Given how both of these teams have put on some of the better tag team matches in recent memory, expect another memorable one in Australia. Not only that, but these are two of the best tag teams the WWE has produced in a long time.
The Bar will be open at Super Show-Down, but will it reach a new day and capture the SmackDown Tag Team Championship?
