Toni Storm vs. Meiko Satomura, SHE-1 Qualifier

This is it. The main event. The Match of the Year Candidate itself!

The crowd was evenly split between these two elite wrestlers, and it was awesome watching the opening exchanges. Neither woman could land a shot on the other, as Toni Storm was able to dodge all of Meiko Satomura’s impressive strikes with blinding speed of her own. The determination on both of their faces added to the atmosphere, with Grace quipping on commentary that every Meiko match has a “big fight feel”.

There are few things I love more in wrestling than watching two elite competitors try to one-up each other in a match. The pacing in this bout was so good, because you could just sense the tension in the air, especially since the crowd stayed quiet out of respect until a few big moves turned up the heat.

Meiko’s matches always feel like an exhibition in psychology, to the point where you know she’s manipulating your emotions as a viewer but you can’t quite comprehend how exactly she’s achieving this.

Also, Storm is crazy strong. We already knew this, but she’s so strong that I’m constantly taken aback by her athletic ability. NXT UK got a special one.

The strikes in this match were something else. There was a sequence where Storm hit Satomura with the mother of ALL headbutts, and of course, Satomura’s follow-up kick to the head was something else.

Next. Becky Lynch Should Be SmackDown Live's Top Babyface. dark

I thought the match was over when Storm hit a WICKED “Tiger Driver”, but just as Storm kicked out of Satomura’s finish, Satomura had the answer to Storm’s best move. But Storm was able to hit another one not long after to put away Meiko and qualify for the SHE-1.

Final Thoughts: Great match. That’s all that needs to be said here. And it looks like Kay Lee Ray has another big match on the horizon, because Toni Storm and KLR are now the only two women in EVE to have defeated Meiko. So yeah, that’s HUGE. I thought KLR vs. Satomura at Wrestle Queendom was an even better match, but this was the “Match of the Night” and a stellar bout in its own right.
