3. Is Madison Rayne Next In Line?

Since Dashwood was unable to defeat Sakai in her first crack at the Women of Honor Championship, I’m starting to wonder if Madison Rayne will be the woman to dethrone Sakai, who also boasts title victories over Karen Q, Hazuki, and Jenny Rose.

Rayne is one of the high-profile wrestlers to have fallen to Sakai in a title match, too, because she lost on the Sept. 2 episode of ROH TV. This match between Rayne and Sakai was taped during Slammiversary weekend, when it seemed unclear where Rayne would be working in the coming months. She was set to appear in the Mae Young Classic 2 and was involved in a Knockouts Championship feud with Su Yung after briefly returning to the division this summer.

Ultimately, Rayne opted to sign with Women of Honor, and the move was announced about a week ago, well after her taped match against Sakai and the subsequent airing of the match on ROH TV.

In the inaugural Women of Honor Tournament earlier this year, Rayne lost to Mandy Leon in a first round upset. She hasn’t won many big matches despite making waves around the wrestling world, as she lost to Yung at Slammiversary and Mercedes Martinez at the Mae Young Classic, in addition to losing her high-profile WOH matches. The only big opponent she’s consistently beaten is Tessa Blanchard, who is the current Knockouts Champion.

While there’s certainly room for Dashwood to reclaim the WOH Title from Sakai and become its second champion, the timing of Rayne’s signing, in combination with the way Dashwood lost her second match to Sakai, makes me wonder if the “Queen Bee” will get her vengeance first.
