IWGP Jr Heavyweight Championship Tournament: Will Ospreay vs Marty Scurll
Ospreay and Scurll’s longstanding, world-traveled rivalry continues here in a match to decide who will face KUSHIDA at King of Pro Wrestling for the vacant IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship. Scurll has emerged victorious in two of their three matches that have taken place under the NJPW umbrella (I wasn’t even trying to sneak that in). However, Ospreay won their most recent meeting in a brutal, five-star war at Sakura Genesis earlier this year. They’ll certainly be looking to outdo their past efforts here, but it will be an incredibly tall task considering the quality of their rivalry overall.

This really could go either way. Scurll has a decent amount of momentum coming out of his featured role at All In, but it’s impossible to know whether or not NJPW’s creative team cares at all about what happens at shows other than their own. On the other side of things, Ospreay has been out of the Japanese wrestling spotlight lately, as he’s been busy elsewhere. With that being said, it’s important to note the recent teases of a possible Aerial Assassin vs Ibushi singles match. Ospreay’s promotion to heavyweight is inevitable, and there’s a chance it could be coming very soon. If this is the plan, Scurll is the perfect guy to pick up a cheeky, opportunistic victory over his rival, keeping him protected on the way to the heavyweight division.
Prediction: Marty Scurll

IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championships: The Young Bucks vs The Guerillas of Destiny
In the next chapter of Bullet Club’s never ending civil war, The Bucks and GOD are set to square off for the first time ever, and for once the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team division has some real direction and purpose. This time last year we were just getting War Machine vs Killer Elite Squad vs Tonga & Loa aimlessly over and over and over again for the belts, so I’d say the division is doing pretty well right about now in comparison.
Given the events of the last few months, it’s fair to assume that this match will be chock full of extracurricular activities. Fale will probably show up and take out Red Shoes just in time for King Haku to zipline into the ring out of nowhere and Spike the Jackson brothers. Needless to say, I’m looking forward to it.
This is another tough one to call, but GOD getting the win makes the most sense to me. Since turning on the Elite and co, the BC OGs really haven’t accomplished much. They need something to hang their hats on, or this whole angle will have been an epic waste of time.
