AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door II is coming in fast but the card doesn’t feature any women’s matches. Here are three that would immediately excite fans.

AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door II is less than a week away. There are several big matches slated for the show. Two of which have the potential to be candidates for the 2023 Match of the Year, even before they happen. But there’s a glowing hole on the card because it does not feature any women’s matches. The 2022 card featured 13 matches, with the preshow, and only one women’s match. AEW can’t make that same mistake this year. If the right moves are made, these are three women’s matches that could work on Forbidden Door II.

Thunder Rosa versus Miyu Yamashita

Thunder Rosa and Miyu Yamashita had a pair of matches in 2022 where both women came out with a victory. Setting up Rosa’s return to action with a rubber match against Yamashita would be a great way to welcome her back to the fold.

Rosa and Yamashita are both capable performers who can give fans an exciting match. Unfortunately, their match on the July 27 edition of AEW Dynamite did not live up to expectations. All AEW would need to do is to present the two women as rivals coming together for their third match to see who the best is with the second victory. It’s a simple angle that creates the space for Rosa’s big return to the AEW women’s division.

Kris Statlander versus Giulia

The inaugural edition of Forbidden Door did not feature the TBS Champion, leaving many to wonder where Jade Cargill was as one of the featured performers in AEW. Tony Khan can’t make that mistake for a second time, especially not with a new champion in Kris Statlander that has fans pushing to see her have a dominant run. Pitting her against Giulia would be an interesting clash of styles for a match that wouldn’t need any type of storyline build.

Even though Giulia is listed at only 5’4 and 124 pounds, she wrestles like a giant in the women’s division, using big moves to dominate her opponents. The action is always hard-hitting, and her catalog of matches proves that point every time. Taking that type of performer and slotting her against Statlander, plus giving them the time needed would be the perfect mix for a great women’s match on the PPV.

KAIRI versus Britt Baker

KAIRI versus Britt Baker would work as a match for multiple reasons. The only story in the AEW women’s division for months has been the angle surrounding the Outcasts versus Homegrown talent. Imagine the angle that presents KAIRI as an outside talent coming in to prove Stardom’s dominance over the AEW women’s division. Her time in WWE adds an additional layer to this story that AEW would surely capitalize on.

From an in-ring standpoint, KAIRI is one of the best wrestlers in the industry today. Having her in the ring would elevate Baker in the said match, with the potential to put together one of the best women’s matches in the promotion’s young history.

Bryan Danielson vs Kazuchika Okada is a dream match like none other. dark. Next
