Ranking Wrestling’s Greatest Friendships: Can Anyone Top The New Day?
By Laura Mauro
5. Best Friends
No self-respecting treatise on wrestling friendships could possibly neglect Best Friends. Perhaps something of an on-the-nose name for a tag team, Chuck Taylor (also known as Chuckie T) and Trent Beretta (also known as Trent?) initially teamed up for the Pro Wrestling Guerilla ‘Battle of Los Angeles’ tournament back in 2013., and have been, well, best friends ever since.
Beretta is no stranger to friendship, having also competed as one half of Roppongi Vice along with Rocky Romero (now mentor and manager of Roppongi 3k). And Chuck Taylor has been around, variously teaming with the likes of Drew Galloway, Joey Ryan and even Kenny Omega. But while Best Friends might not be the most successful tag team around – they’re yet to secure gold in any promotion – it can’t be denied that they are terrific fun both in and out of the ring.
Their bond is strong enough to withstand Trent taking the brunt of the punishment while Chuck looks on. Their friendship is powerful enough to go the distance even when getting the tar kicked out of them looks an inevitability. They’ve got muscles for days, and they’re not afraid to admit when they’ve let each other down. They’re basically the ideal model of friendship, and they even have the certificate to prove it:
So how do you pass on these guys?
