2. The Shield vs. Braun Strowman, Dolph Ziggler, And Drew McIntyre Feud Feels Stale Already
The top storyline on Monday nights got going after SummerSlam when Braun Strowman decided he needed allies to get the upper hand on the recently reunited Shield. Strowman nearly cashed in his Money in the Bank two different occasions before he turned heel, but he still felt the need to align himself with Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre.
Since that time, Raw has been dominated by The Shield vs. Strowman, Ziggler, and McIntyre. The six will battle it out at Super Show-Down in six-man tag team action, but over the past several weeks, it’s starting to feel like a story of same ole same ole when these top stars get together. That trend continued last night when all six competed in matches.
Dean Ambrose battled Strowman to open up the show in a match that ultimately had a non-finish of sorts, and immediately after that match, Roman Reigns faced Ziggler in what turned out to be a very stellar match. Reigns got the win, but the third member of each team still had to compete when Seth Rollins faced McIntyre later in the night.
After a few shenanigans on the outside, McIntyre got the win over Rollins and The Dogs Of War got the upper hand over The Shield after the match was over. The bigger picture involving this feud is how it’s not featuring anything different at this point. It just feels the same every week and seeing the same matches and developments every Monday night isn’t enticing anyone.
To be the top storyline on the flagship show, The Shield vs. The Dogs Of War lacks in intrigue and that has to start changing if the WWE wants this feud to continue.
