5. Brock Lesnar And Big Show Break The Ring: June 12, 2003
The initial brand split that took place in 2002 separated Raw superstars from SmackDown superstars. One of the top superstars on the blue brand following this brand split was Brock Lesnar, a new rising star that took the WWE by storm.
Lesnar became the WWE Champion in the main event of WrestleMania 19 against Kurt Angle, who would miss a couple months of action following that match with a neck injury. In the time Angle was gone, Lesnar and The Big Show had a feud that led to several matches for the WWE Championship, but none were as impactful as their June 12, 2003 match on SmackDown.
The two behemoths left the WWE universe in awe at the conclusion of their clash for the WWE Championship. Lesnar got Big Show in the position for a top rope suplex, but given how both men combined had to approach 800 pounds or so, something seemed likely to go down here, and boy, would it ever.
It started to seem like it wouldn’t happen, but Lesnar executed the suplex to Show all the way from the top rope to the ring below before the ring and ring posts came crashing down amidst shock from the WWE fans in attendance. The match was called at that point, but despite not having a clear winner, fans were stunned at the turn of events.
Lesnar and Big Show breaking the ring was, and still is, one of the greatest and most shocking moments in SmackDown history, without question.
