Rusev & Lana vs Jimmy Uso & Naomi

Lana and Naomi begin. Lana tries her best, but her opponent is just toying with her. Naomi taunts and busts a move. Lana sarcastically applauds and catches her opponent off guard with a kick to the gut. Naomi gets free and Jimmy gets the crowd chanting “dance off”, so dance off they do. They go back and forth. The crowd eats it up, but they want to see the men get in on it. Jimmy hits the Shoot, and it’s Rusev’s turn. Jimmy hands him some Rikishi style sunglasses and they look like they’re about to do the Too Cool together, but the Bulgarian catches Uso out of nowhere with a Machka kick for a great near fall.

Back to rasslin’. Jimmy lands a desperation enziguri and makes the tag to his wife. Naomi dominates Lana and goes for a pin. Rusev breaks it up, so Uso’s in to keep things even, but he ends up getting tossed right out of the ring. Rusev follows, but gets caught with a superkick. Jimmy takes his chance and gets on the mic. He asks Lana “What’s up with Milwaukee?”, and Naomi capitalizes on the distraction with a roll up for the three count.

It’s tough to judge this one, as over half of the match was a dance off… but I mean, I had fun watching and that’s what really matters. If this match were on a PPV or even Raw or SD Live, I probably would be a bit more of curmudgeon about it, but as far as the Mixed Match Challenge is concerned, the more it feels like a party, the better. I’m a little disappointed we didn’t actually get to see Rusev dance, but oh well. Maybe I’ll dream of an alternate version of this match where Rusev does the cha cha slide or something.

Rating: **3/4

Overall, I thought this episode of WWE Mixed Match Challenge was somewhat enjoyable. I love seeing the wrestlers loosen up and have some fun but, like Phenomenal Flair vs Day One Glow from episode one taught us, the wrestlers can party and still put on great matches.
