LA Park makes his MLW return as he adds another page in the book of the storied feud between Salina de la Renta and Konnan. Tonight, Park and Pentagon go to war in a Mexican Massacre Match in the main event!

The rivalry between Salina de La Renta’s Promociones Dorado and Konnan stems from a single action – Konnan wooing away the MLW World Tag Team Champion Lucha Brothers from a pair of deceptive contracts under de La Renta. Since that moment, de La Renta has set her sights on destroying not only Konnan but the Lucha Brothers as a whole.

Last week, Low Ki successfully defended his MLW World Heavyweight Title against Rey Fenix in a bloody battle. Salina was instrumental in the outcome of the match as her unmasking of Fenix led to Ki picking up the win after a top-rope double stomp to the back. With one half of the Lucha Brothers having been defeated, can de La Renta go 2-0 as LA Park faces off with Pentagon Jr?

The show kicks off with a decent little video package recapping the events of last week’s MLW World Heavyweight Title match while also building to Park/Pentagon tonight. Low Ki provides the voiceover here which is an interesting touch that I don’t remember being utilized quite so much before; he’s done this at least once before and it adds a little something extra rather than just having a nameless, faceless narrator running a recap.

MJF: The Quest For… Something

Before the action kicks off, we get a video from Salina de La Renta of a meeting with MJF and Aria Blake from earlier in the week. de La Renta, sunning herself in on a rooftop patio, is visited by the pair with MJF remarking that the place is “beautiful, for Puerto Rico.”

Salina tells MJF to watch his mouth before laughing her comment off and inviting the World Middleweight Champion to sit, which he does through a bout of nervous laughter. MJF’s ask is simple – he has a Joey Janela problem and needs someone to take him out.

Low Ki arrives from behind the trio and simply states that he thinks that Promociones Dorado and Black Friday Management have exactly what MJF needs to shed his burden.

Grade: Okay. Short and somewhat sweet segment from the quartet.

I’m still waiting for Salina’s breakout moment. She doesn’t necessarily come off as natural most of the time and playing off of someone like MJF who pours himself into his character, even in such a short segment, highlights that. I have to wonder if this was part of the planned storyline with Janela pre-injury, or if this will be MLW’s way of writing him out as he recovers from a litany of knee issues over the next year or so.

Overall, not bad if a little campy while bordering on the opening scene to some form of, shall we say, “adult entertainment.” I probably don’t need to hear Low Ki say “bad boy” ever again.
