Mexican Massacre Match: Pentagon Jr vs LA Park

Both men are out with their choice of weapons – LA Park with a pair of chairs and Pentagon with a trash can. After the introductions, Pentagon tries to start things off by whipping the trash can at Park but the Chairman is able to avoid contact. Park uses the can as a weapon on Pentagon before dancing around the ring to the delight of the Fort Lauderdale crowd.

Immediately, Park sends me into a panic as he begins ripping at the mask of Pentagon! The top half of Pentagon’s face is completely uncovered as Park drives a steel chair into his head on the arena floor. The luchadors spill into the crowd with Park picking up a table and dragging it back to ringside, setting it up leaning against the steel railing.

Back in the ring, Pentagon is able to hurricanrana Park to the arena floor before diving through him (and the table) with a somersault plancha. Pentagon returns the favor to Park by nailing him with a steel chair before ripping away at his mask, both men’s faces now showing through.

The crowd seems to lose steam for a bit when Park stops Pentagon’s momentum with a power slam and senton back splash. Park is able to get them back with a tope suicida on Pentagon on the arena floor with both men out on the floor while Konnan and de La Renta glare at one another over the bodies of their men.

Late in the match, Pentagon set up a table in the center of the ring with Park sitting on the top rope. It’s a mystery as to what he was going for, but Pentagon climbed onto the table only to be met by Park with a spear driving both men through the table resulting in a two count. As both men recovered, Pentagon would hurl a good old-fashioned fireball at Park catching both the referee and his opponent.

After not picking up the pin on Park immediately after, Pentagon nails the referee with the trash can still in the ring. Park kicks Pentagon low and revives the referee who delivers an extremely quick count to give LA Park the win over Pentagon Jr.

Grade: Very Good. Not as violent or bloody as I expected, but a fun match in the company’s top storyline.

I would have expected this match to be much more gruesome with the wrestlers involved and being billed as a Mexican Massacre Match, but I suppose we got our bloody luchador fill last week when Low Ki ripped the mask from and brutalized the face of Fenix.
