NJPW King of Pro Wrestling features a card with massive Wrestle Kingdom implications. IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship: El Desperado & Yoshinobu Kanemaru(c) vs Tiger Mask & Jyushin Thunder Liger

Regardless of the outcome, this match should be great for the value of these belts and the division as a whole. If Despy and Kanemaru heel it up enough to retain they’ll surely get enough fresh heat and momentum to reinvigorate their stale championship reign, and fans will be itching for a good, fiery babyface team to emerge and challenge them at Wrestle Kingdom. Then, if the legends pick up the belts, it will be a nice, refreshing reset for NJPW’s junior tag scene, and we’d probably be looking at a fun Tiger Mask/JTL vs SHO/YOH or Bushi/??? or Ishimori/??? Junior Tag Championship match for Wrestle Kingdom

It’s tough to call, but I think the champs retaining makes the most sense. Despy and Kanemaru are so much better than they’ve been able to show. Their reign has been on the back burner for months now, and I just think it has some good life left to live if it’s given a bit more attention on the road to the Dome

Prediction: El Desperado & Yoshinobu Kanemaru
