6. VS Randy Orton – TLC 2009

As many of us would remember, Kofi Kingston was on the course of getting a major push in 2009. The first step towards that main event push was a feud with Randy Orton. Shockingly enough, every time the two crossed paths, Kofi had Orton’s number. He pinned Orton as the sole survivor of a 5-on-5 elimination match, he destroyed Orton’s customized car, and he Boom Dropped The Viper through a table in Madison Square Garden.

Considering how hot Kingston’s popularity and momentum was near the end of 2009, it is kind of bittersweet to look back on it knowing that the push went nowhere and fizzled out unceremoniously. It is even more disappointing when we look at how stellar Kofi Kingston’s performance was in his biggest pay-per-view match at TLC that year.

Seeing him square off against the second biggest star in the company at the time, Kofi looked like he belonged in the main event picture. He held his own against the veteran, had a good match, and looked like a star in the process. Makes us wonder what his career would look like today if WWE actually continued on and pulled the trigger on his push when they should’ve.
