LAX def. The OGz

This was a fabulous way to presumably end the feud between LAX and The OGz. Earlier in the show, it was revealed that Konnan was attacked backstage, so LAX started this war out alone. The match was as brutal as a televised Death Match could possibly be.

The exposed ring was a great touch, though I’m sure I’m not the only one who thought there was a chance the wood would break before the match even started.

I’m curious to see how they sum up the feud on the weeks to come. It needs to be the end, but it’s not something Impact can really drop in the weeks to come and just have the two teams unified or completely ignore each other going forward.

Allie saves Kiera, but couldn’t save herself

Impact is full into spooky mode this October, and last night we saw Allie take on Su Yung in the Undead Realm to help save Kiera Hogan. With a surprise assist from the one and only Rosemary, Allie and Kiera escape, though it’s insinuated that Allie doesn’t really leave, and instead it’s something else more sinister.

This whole feud, starting with Rosemary’s burial conflagration, has been one theatrical phenomenon. It really goes to show you how talented Impact storytelling can be. This could also be testament to how well Impact can do with it’s new 10PM time slot (more on this to come later).

Johnny Impact def. Austin Aries

Before we get into the obvious, I’d like to say that for whatever reason, this is the match that put into perspective for me just how little space their was off the apron. The fact that Johnny Impact was able to have one foot on the mat, one foot on the guard rail, and then land a flip was ridiculous, and really should never happen (though, hello, it was awesome that it did).

Now that that’s out of the way, we can discuss the elephant in the room – was Austin Aries’ no-sell and subsequent exit from the ring a work or not? For those of you who didn’t tune in, I’ll recap – Austin Aries no-sold Impact’s Starship Pain finisher, seemingly points and yells up at the commentators (more likely just Impact co-executive VP and commentator Don Callis), and then leaves the arena while flipping off fans at both sides of the ramp.

If it was a work, it fit in wonderfully with the twitter rants Aries has been on and a confrontational press-conference before the pay-per-view in which Aries mouthed off to Impact and Impact lunged at Aries.

The one detail that makes me think it maybe wasn’t planned is the fact that right after the no-sell when Aries gets up and yells up at the balcony, he’s immediately not in the camera’s focus. Again, when he’s walking up the ring, he’s behind Impact (who’s focal and in the ring), and there are no cameras on him. You would think that for a big work like that, there would be some cameras ready to get him mouthing off before he left.

There’s also the chance, of course, that it was all set up for the very purposes of this conversation, so we can keep talking about it for days until it’s addressed or purposefully not addressed during their New York tapings, in which case, Impact, you win.
