WWE Raw Preview and Predictions: Same Old Song and Dance

Drew McIntyre Qualifies for World Cup to ACTUALLY Make It a “World” Cup
So far, the following superstars have qualified for the WWE World Cup scheduled to take place at Crown Jewel:
- Kurt Angle, 49, Pittsburgh, PA; won Global Battle Royal
- Jeff Hardy, 41, Cameron, NC; defeated Samoa Joe
- Randy Orton, 38, St. Louis, MO; defeated Big Show
- John Cena, 41, West Newbury, MA; is John Cena
Notice a pattern, anyone? Besides everyone being a veteran of multiple decades, everyone competing for the title of “best in the world” hails from the good ol’ US of A. Doesn’t a tournament like this need some international flavor?
While SmackDown Live celebrates its 1000th episode tomorrow night and will contribute some worldly talent when Rey Mysterio likely defeats Shinsuke Nakamura to enter the World Cup, WWE Raw has the chance to do the same in one of its two qualifying matches. Drew McIntyre is set to face Seth Rollins in one of two qualifiers, and the Scottish Terminator seems to be a lock to move on.
I honestly can’t imagine even WWE doing something so insanely tone deaf like holding a “world cup” tournament in a foreign land with zero non-American talent. Even just one, whether Mysterio or Nakamura, wouldn’t be enough. Let big Drew earn a hard-fought victory over Rollins, the clear MVP of WWE in 2018, and move on to the tournament. Maybe he could even win the whole thing?
