WWE Raw Preview and Predictions: Same Old Song and Dance

The Bellas Explain Nothing, and We’re The Better For It
WWE is advertising Ronda Rousey to respond to the beating she suffered at the hands of The Bella Twins last week, because that seems to be WWE’s new MO as of late. Weekly TV is devoted to superstars “responding” to whatever happened to them the week before, rather than just say, “hey, here’s a match based on last week’s events.”
Personally, I don’t care what Ronda thinks about the assault — Cliffs Notes version: she mad. What I’m more interested in — albeit only slightly more so — is why The Bellas felt last week on WWE Raw was the perfect opportune moment to turn on The Baddest Woman on the Planet.
However, I don’t expect any kind of explanation from Nikki or Brie, and that’s for a few reasons. The biggest one is that this feud is built around three people who have no business speaking in public. From Ronda’s corpsing to Nikki’s ridiculous over-enunciation to Brie’s, well, lack of command over language, it’s not really the kind of feud that should involve a lot of talking.
If WWE was smart, there would be less promo work in this feud than in most others. Say what you want about The Bellas, or Brie in particular, but Nikki and Rousey have proven of late that they can let their ring work do the talking. Instead of Bad Middle School Theater invading the Raw Women’s Division and the build to Evolution, let them fight and do everything nonverbally.
