3. Drew McIntyre & Dolph Ziggler vs Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose – Hell in a Cell 2018

Despite how recent and fresh this match is in our minds, it’s hard not to look back on this match as one of the best title matches in the history of the WWE Tag Team Championship.

We all know the story behind this one; it all started with Dolph Ziggler and Seth Rollins feuding over the Intercontinental Championship. Drew McIntyre would serve as Ziggler’s muscle, while Dean Ambrose would return from injury as Rollins’s equalizer.

Somewhere along the way, Ziggler and McIntyre would win the Raw Tag Team Championship, and at Hell in a Cell 2018, they would defend their titles against The Shield.

Much of the match seemed to be about defying audience expectations. For every move set-up we were used to seeing, there was a counter that caught us all off guard, or something shocking and innovative happened instead.  A prime example would be when Rollins went for a suicide dive, only to be caught by McIntyre and Ziggler, then Ambrose would suicide dive onto all three men.

Another example came in the ending. Rollins set up his usual suplex into a Falcon Arrow spot off the top rope on Ziggler, but before he could hit the Falcon Arrow, McIntyre would hit a Claymore out of nowhere to retain the titles.
