2. The Bar vs. The New Day

The New Day became five-time tag team champions back in August and have since managed to keep their titles against all challengers.  That trend continued at Super Show-Down when The Bar failed to dethrone The New Day, but last night saw a rematch on the 1,000th episode of SmackDown.

It felt right to have a championship match take place on an episode of this magnitude and these teams more than obliged.  Much like every other match last night, this match could have gotten more time to shine.  But even at that, The New Day vs. The Bar was a very solid match that shook up the blue brand’s tag team division.

Things went back and forth for a while and just when it looked like Sheamus and Cesaro had control of things, The Big Show came out to stop them from attacking Kofi Kingston on the outside.  However, that turned into Big Show chokeslamming Kingston through the announce table and Sheamus hit Big E with a Brogue Kick to win the match and the SmackDown Tag Team Championship.

The Bar has now joined the five-time tag team champions club and who would have imagined The Big Show would be so key in doing so?  There’s no telling where this will go, but seeing Sheamus and Cesaro as SmackDown Tag Team Champions for the first time is a pleasant sight and they should be able to have a great reign depending on how long they get.

It wouldn’t be SmackDown 1000 without a Big Show heel turn and this latest heel turn helped result in new tag team champions.

Final Grade: B+
