Chelsea Green Officially Signs With WWE NXT
Chelsea Green is one of the most exciting professional wrestlers in the world, and by signing her, WWE NXT has added yet another elite talent in 2018.
WWE NXT’s Performance Center just got even more stacked, as they have officially announced the latest class of wrestlers. Matt Riddle, Mia Yim, and Chelsea Green have all officially joined WWE.
Riddle’s signing has been known for months, and it became official when he appeared in the crowd at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV.
Yim’s signing was cemented yesterday when her Mae Young Classic 2 quarterfinals match against Toni Storm was aired on the WWE Network. The crowd chanted for Yim, who was also amazing at the first Mae Young Classic, to be signed, and Triple H simply said “OK”. This match was taped, so most fans were aware that Yim had been signed. She made her NXT Live Event debut weeks ago.
Of the three wrestlers, Green’s status was the hardest to get a read on. She tried out at the Performance Center in June, with another former Impact Wrestling star in Robbie E. At the time, we wrote that she’d be a perfect fit for WWE due to her character work as “Laurel Van Ness” and her solid work in the ring.

Although there wasn’t much information about Green’s status following that tryout, Twitter user and unofficial wrestling media critic “rovert” reported earlier in October that Green reported to the Performance Center after signing with WWE. A few sites picked up the report, but there was still uncertainty as to whether or not she did sign.
Now that’s official that Green is a member of the NXT roster, she posted about her signing on Instagram, giving fans a heads up that we should expect to see her widely-acclaimed “Hot Mess” character on WWE Television. The “Hot Mess” was one of our top 20 ranked wrestling characters in 2017.
Green, a former Tough Enoughstar, has been even better in 2018. The former Knockouts Champion shined brightly at “All In” in the Fatal Four-Way match against Dr. Britt Baker, Madison Rayne, and current Knockouts Champion Tessa Blanchard. Her match against Pentagon Jr. in Lucha Underground received praise as one of the greatest intergender matches of all-time, with her “Reklusa” character and “Canadian Destroyer” receiving just as heavy praise.
There’s no doubt that Green is one of wrestling’s fastest-rising stars, as she’s more than built on her encouraging 2017. Green has consistently improved in the ring to the point where she’s clearly quite good, and she should become a huge star in WWE. That road to stardom will come sooner than some may think.
WWE’s signings of Green and Yim are just the latest high-profile additions to their women’s division. Candice LeRae, Io Shirai, and Deonna Purrazzo all signed with WWE this year, and they were all regarded as among the best performers in the world. The same can be said about Yim and especially Green, whose work in Lucha Underground was truly eye-opening.
