WWE Evolution 2018: 3 Reasons Why Becky Lynch Should Win
Becky Lynch Winning Isn’t As Predictable
By now, WWE fans are conditioned to seeing Charlotte Flair get the last laugh in many of her feuds. A possible exception was her rivalry with Bayley, but note that it took help from Sasha Banks to end her undefeated streak on PPV. WWE understandably likes to book Charlotte strongly, because she remains their top pick in the women’s division after Ronda Rousey.
It seems like Charlotte and Rousey are on track to face each other for the title at WrestleMania, and it’d possibly be a Raw Women’s Championship bout in the main event, perhaps after Charlotte wins the Royal Rumble to challenge Rousey, who is currently champion.
To help set that up, WWE would likely want Charlotte to win all of her notable rivalries until then, and (POSSIBLE SPOILER AHEAD) it’s telling that Ric Flair is set to appear at Evolution, according to PWInsider.com’s Mike Johnson.
Charlotte has always been the “safe” option for WWE, because she’s a talented wrestler, above-average talker, and a known commodity. She’ll always put on good programs, hover around the main event scene, and rack up title wins at a record-breaking pace.
Note that Charlotte has already tied Trish Stratus’s record of seven women’s championships, which is something Trish alluded to when discussing the possibility of facing Charlotte in the future.
That said, it might be a letdown if Charlotte wins the SmackDown Women’s Championship at Evolution, even if she’s been a huge part of the Women’s Evolution and WWE would like to push the narrative of her being “The Queen”. The reality is that Becky is more popular and is the performer who has done more to earn being champion at this very moment in time.
If Charlotte wins, the crowd, which has been more lukewarm than hostile to her, would turn on her (and perhaps even, by extension, Ric Flair if he’s in attendance). Charlotte has already won the first Women’s Hell in a Cell and Ironwoman Matches, so fans are conditioned to expect her to win the first “Last Woman Standing” bout on the main roster.
