Charlotte Flair

It’s easiest to start with the wrestler who is generally seen as the favorite to win the Women’s Rumble in 2019. Charlotte Flair is a seven-time women’s champion in WWE, tying her with Trish Stratus in the record books for the most title reigns among women in this company.

With her promotional work in the media and her catalogue of solid matches, Charlotte has earned this recognition, even if it is important to concede that her last name has helped her gain notoriety among more casual wrestling fans.

Charlotte Flair vs. Ronda Rousey is a WrestleMania 35 main event that sells itself, and it would surely be a more entertaining match than a few of the ‘Mania main events we’ve seen over the last five years. For example, Charlotte’s title match against Asuka and Rousey’s mixed tag match at WrestleMania 34 were arguably the two best matches on the main card, so it stands to reason that they’d tear down the house in head-to-head competition at WM35.

No WrestleMania main event is set in stone, and it still feels like WWE is trying to figure out who is the best opponent for Rousey in 2019. With Becky Lynch holding onto the SmackDown Women’s Championship with all of her might, Charlotte may have to fight her way back to the top by winning the Rumble and challenging Rousey, in the same way that Asuka wanted to beat Flair in 2018.
