Ronda Rousey retains the Raw Women’s Champion against Nikki Bella

Am I personally a fan of this decision? No. Do I still think it’s going to happen? Of course.

I’d like to ask you all as a personal favor to me to firstly forget the fact that some of you didn’t want this match to happen at Evolution in the first place (if at all) so we can just discuss this match as it stands.

I’d secondly like you to look at the narrative that was told to you during the promos of this match, which I and my fellow DDT contributors have expressed our blatant disappointment with.

This message WWE asked Ronda Rousey to send you was that if you don’t get to the top the way I got to the top, your way is wrong. The message WWE asked Nikki Bella to send you was “I helped start this Women’s Revolution, I work hard inside and outside the ring”, which is… well, very true.

Ronda Rousey’s going to win, because she’s “The Baddest Woman on the Planet” and she’s a former UFC champion and major “tough chick”. However, the way that WWE set this match up makes it look like their putting over notions that are quiet frankly harmful to the Revolution they’re celebrating.

Nikki Bella should quite frankly win because to put over the notion that she was a hard-worker and instrumental in the era that forged the Women’s Revolution is a more powerful message than anything Ronda’s been spreading.
