Shayna Baszler (c) vs. Kairi Sane- NXT Women’s Championship match

It was a bit surprising that WWE didn’t call Baszler up after she lost the NXT Women’s Championship to Kairi Sane at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV. After all, the catch wrestling savant is one of the best heels in the company, finding that perfect mix of intimidation and vulnerability while exhibiting a bravado that makes her the perfect foil for headstrong babyfaces.

Baszler is so different from every other female heel on the main roster (unless you still view Becky Lynch as a heel), and that brand of ruthlessness is what RAW and SmackDown desperately need. I should also mention that Baszler is 38, so keeping her in developmental for an extended period may not be the best move.

For now, “The Queen of Spades” will stay on the black and yellow brand, where is once again the NXT Women’s Champ, and now, she has a couple of friends at her side: fellow MMA Four Horsewomen Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir. Duke and Shafir made their presence known at Evolution, as their constant interference allowed Baszler to lock in the Kirifuda Clutch on Sane to become the first two-time NXT Women’s Champ.

Sane is due to receive a championship rematch, so it makes sense that these two would likely tangle again at TakeOver: WarGames. However, there is a chance that the match takes place on the weekly show to set up a six-woman tag with the Horsewomen against Sane and two partners (possibly Io Shirai and, I don’t know, Mia Yim?), but they could have the tag match on the weekly show as well to build to the title match.

Whichever direction they decide to go, this should be a great feud, with Sane and her allies fighting back against the domineering trio of Baszler, Duke, and Shafir.
