Jeff Cobb Says He’d Love To Wrestle Samoa Joe, Cesaro In WWE

These last few months have been kind to Jeff Cobb, who has won titles all over the world in 2018 and has been one of the biggest breakout stars in pro wrestling. Recently, he spoke about two possible dream matches in WWE one day, and it’s hard not to get excited about the names he dropped.

Jeff Cobb won the PWG World Championship at the Smokey and the Bandido show in October, defeating WALTER to capture one of the most coveted prizes in professional wrestling. The victory capped off Cobb’s meteoric rise in PWG, which included him emerging victorious in the prestigious Battle of Los Angeles tournament one month earlier.

The current ROH World Television Champion, Cobb was always an accomplished tag team wrestler and has now established himself as one of the world’s biggest singles stars. Holding a title in both PWG and ROH is no short feat, and Cobb’s win over Punishment Martinez, who made his NXT Live debut on Nov. 2, for the ROH TV Title was yet another marquee moment.

Although he’s accomplished plenty, there’s still more for Cobb to do as he continues to stake his claim as one of the biggest stars in wrestling right now. He was always acclaimed for his role at “Matanza” in Lucha Underground, but things are clicking on a different level for him, especially after that huge PWG Championship win over WALTER last month.

Cobb spoke with WWE legend Jim Ross on “The Jim Ross Report”, and the topic of WWE came up. Because of course it did.

While Cobb was honest in his response about mulling over WWE as a future option, the “dream” matches he picked were far more interesting. We’ve seen some crazy first-time matches in WWE this year that we never thought we’d see, so it isn’t out of the realm of possibility for Cobb to one day face Samoa Joe and Cesaro on the big stage.

He said, as transcribed by Wrestling Inc.’s William Windsor:

"“I would definitely love to wrestle with Samoa Joe. I think that would be a fun time. I get that comparison a lot on the independents. I would also love to wrestle Cesaro. I think he’s super talented. He’s just really good and I would love to have that match with him.”"

There’s no doubt that Joe and Cesaro are two of the strongest athletes in WWE, and Cesaro is capable of doing things in the ring that no human should be physically capable of doing. The Swiss-1-9 comes to mind, as does his swing of The Great Khali. Joe also has uncanny quickness, and the pure animosity for his opponents make all of his matches must-see, regardless of opponent.

Cobb is also an incredibly gifted athlete with ridiculous size and strength, as he’s consistently shown throughout his career. After all, the former Olympic wrestler is known as “Mr. Athletic”. A brawl between Cobb and Joe, with some chilling promos beforehand, would be sensational, but a straight-up wrestling match between two athletes like Cobb and Cesaro would be downright special.

It’s safe to say that Cobb knows how to hype us up by simply spitballing the names of two great wrestlers in WWE as people he’d love to face.
