SmackDown Live begins tonight with GM Paige making her way to the ring amidst a very welcoming English crowd. She’s only here to welcome Shane McMahon to the ring… oh, okay. I’m pretty sure WWE edited in boo’s for this one too, as the crowd looks like they’re on their feet cheering, but it doesn’t sound that way.
Paige calls out Shane and his “World” Cup win and orders they take a picture, and here come the CM Punk chants and more boos. Shane admits he doesn’t feel like the best in the world; rather, he wants SmackDown as a whole to feel like the best in the world. Who told you so? Humble brag – it was me.
Shane and Paige start talking over a musical preview of the Survivor Series card, and it’s kind of awkward.
Shane announces the first member, and the captain, of Team SmackDown, and it’s none other than Danial Bryan. I won’t say I told you so again; that would just be pompous.
Daniel Bryan graciously accepts the position, but then out comes the Miz. Miz isn’t even mad that Shane stole his spot in the “World” Cup; rather, he insists that he and Shane must be the co-best in the world, correct?
Miz calls out Daniel Bryan, because Miz insists he’s never been so injured he couldn’t compete, and he insists that he should be the one to captain of Team SmackDown… and Shane… agrees? Technically he does, and it’s announced Daniel Bryan and The Miz will have to work together as co-captains of Team SmackDown.
